Waymo opens rides to everyone in San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa

Waymo opened its autonomous ride service to anyone using its app in San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa on October 14, 2026.

Waymo opened its autonomous ride service to anyone using its app in San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa on October 14, 2026. The announcement also includes rides to and from San Antonio International Airport.

This is an expansion of access in three existing markets. Waymo says it began service in these cities earlier this year and has already welcomed hundreds of thousands of riders across them. The new step lets anyone download the app and request a ride, rather than marking the cities’ first Waymo operations.

For passengers, broader access makes driverless transportation a more practical option for everyday journeys and airport trips. The announcement does not establish blanket coverage of every neighborhood or airport in all three regions, and it provides no new pricing or fleet-size figures. Its concrete milestone is public access to services that were already operating. Source: Waymo.
